Gibson SG Classic Heritage Cherry 2010 w/ New HSC
WILL ONLY SHIP WITHIN CANADA DUE TO THE ROSEWOOD
When we recieved this guitar the previous owner had swapped out the original pickguard and had it fitted for humbuckers. Our resident luthier swapped it back to the original layout with a SG classic pickguard and p90s. Some slight routing to increase the cavity size for humbuckers was done by the previous owner (maybe a half an inch increase) it is however invisible under the pickguard and does not affect the guitar in any dicernibe way. Pro set-up done by our luthier, this SG plays nice and low with no buzz. Straight neck, responsive truss, minimal fretwear, clean electronics, and the Tone Emporium p90s were installed in the original wiring configuration and sound AMAZING. Pure p90 bliss! One pickguard screw hole remains from the previous pickguard installation but it has been filled and sealed. No major scratches or dings anywhere in the front back or sides, a few light scuffs in the gloss and one small gloss chip on the horn (see last two pics), our luthier also noticed some chips on the front but they are fully covered by the pickguard now that it is back to original. The neck feels very comfortable, it really plays like butter, well balanced and the tone is GREAT.
These are getting harder and harder to find, so someone is going to get this beautiful guitar at a very good price. It comes with a brand new Profile TDC teardrop case. As with all our items this will be professionally packaged and shipped ASAP with full tracking and insurance.
Decription from Gibson:
The guitar that won the hearts and minds of a generation.
Inspired by the 1960s SG Special, the Gibson SG Classic Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups re-creates the look and sound of the most influential guitar in both Britain and the U.S. during the psychedelic era. It has the original all-mahogany body, dual P-90 pickups, and a bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays.
A Little SG History
In 1961, the Les Paul was redesigned with a thinner body and 2 sharp cutaway horns that making the upper frets more accessible while lowering production costs. The new guitar was popular, but Les Paul the guitarist did not like it and asked to have his name removed. Gibson renamed the model the “SG” which was short for “solid guitar”. Though Les Paul’s name was officially removed from the model in 1961, the plastic Les Paul nameplates (positioned between the rhythm pickup and fingerboard) were in abundance in the Gibson factory and SG models having these nameplates were built and sold by Gibson up to end of 1963. SGs have been the choice of world-class artists such as Pete Townsend, Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi, and Angus Young.
